As part of our NHS Contract we have been asked to provide each patient with a "Named and Accountable GP". In fact we have been doing this for a long time, with each patient having a "usual GP" noted on our clinical system. Each patient must be notified of their Named GP.
Having a Named GP does not mean that you can only see that doctor when you come to the surgery. You can continue to see any of the doctors, as you do already.
In most cases your Named GP will be the doctor you most often see at the surgery and the one who knows you best. This doctor will also be the one who receives any hospital correspondence about your care. We operate a "buddy" system to cover this work when your doctor is absent.
If you have not received any notification and want to know who your named/ accountable GP is, please contact the surgery to find out about. The reception staff can give you this information.
